I came to treat scars with microneedling/laser and was told I had to prepare my skin — by buying over CHF 1,200 of products. Based on my later research and a second dermatologist’s opinion, the retinol was too strong and such an expensive 8-step skin-prep routine didn’t appear necessary. When my skin felt irritated and I shared I wanted to stop the products, I was advised to continue — no adaptation, no discussion. To me, their approach felt less medical and more like a sales routine: “trust us” and “we know our stuff,” instead of clear explanations. I came for scars, not to fund a skincare line. Their public reply below only reinforced that impression — rather than addressing my concerns, it came across as patronizing, denying me the right to be unhappy, and trying to “educate” me about how I should think. My feedback isn’t about refusing medical expertise; it’s about feeling unheard when my skin reacted and the plan wasn’t adjusted. The so-called “detailed one-hour consultation” they describe was, in my experience, mostly photos and general statements like “we can improve a lot,” followed by a short voice note listing the products I was supposed to buy. After my initial review, their response included private details (such as invoices) and even a personal comment “the problem is YOU.” That tone says everything. I can’t personally assess the practitioner’s medical skill, but the behaviour suggested limited openness or cooperation when a client isn’t satisfied — something worth keeping in mind. Professionalism, in my view, means listening and adapting, not selling and lecturing.
